Open Badge Factory is a Finnish digital credentialing platform that enables organizations to create, issue, and manage digital badges based on the Open Badges standard maintained by 1EdTech. The company is headquartered in Oulu, Finland.[1][2]
History
editOpen Badge Factory was legally incorporated in Finland on 5 December 2018.[3]
Activities
editAccording to the 1EdTech certification directory, Open Badge Factory is used by educational institutions, associations, and companies worldwide to create, issue, and manage digital badges.[2]
In Canada, the digital credentials platforms CanCred Factory and CanCred Passport are built on Open Badge Factory and Open Badge Passport technologies and are delivered by Canadian education technology provider Learning Agents.[4]
In March 2024, Open Badge Factory entered a distribution partnership with Tokyo-based education technology company Infosign to provide the platform and the Open Badge Passport service in Japan.[5]
