Olivia Lilith is the stage name of Antoine Cauchi, a Maltese drag performer and television personality. Olivia is known for appearances on Malta’s Got Talent, theatrical productions, and involvement in Malta’s LGBTQ+ cultural scene.[1][2]

Background and creation

edit

Olivia was developed as a drag persona during the COVID-19 lockdown period, emerging through experimentation with costumes, wigs, makeup, and performance techniques before being introduced to the public. The character reflects a blend of theatrical expression and personal creativity rooted in a background in education and the performing arts.[2]

Career

edit

Olivia Lilith gained wider recognition as a finalist on the second season of Malta’s Got Talent, where the act received a Golden Buzzer and advanced to the final.[2][3][4] Olivia has also appeared in theatrical productions, including the drag show Kwijns, staged at Spazju Kreattiv, where the role of a “fairy drag mother” was performed.[5] In addition to stage work, Olivia has been involved in television and media projects, including appearances in Maltese productions such as the LGBTIQ+ series KWIR.[6]

Public appearances and activism

edit

Olivia has hosted and performed at major national events, including the Malta Pride concert and activities linked to EuroPride Valletta 2023.[7][1] Olivia has also participated in discussions and advocacy related to LGBTQ+ issues in Malta and Gozo, including supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening community services.[2]

A photograph from a EuroPride Valletta performance attracted public debate, with criticism from presenter John Bundy, Gżira mayor Conrad Borg Manché and Nationalist MP Justin Schembri as evidence that children were being inappropriately exposed to drag performances, while other commentary contextualised the incident within broader discussions on LGBTQ+ events in Malta.[8][9]
