Oliver Henry Hobden is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender. He is currently a free agent.

Early life

Hobden attended Bede's School, a private school in East Sussex. During his time there, he was part of the school's successful football programme, which saw several students sign professional contracts.[3][4]

Career

Charlton Athletic

Coming through the youth system of Charlton Athletic, having joined the club at U11 level, Hobden signed his first professional deal with the club on 24 May 2023.[5] On 6 August 2025, Hobden extended his contract with Charlton Athletic.[6]

Hobden made his professional debut for the club as a 20–year–old, playing the first 64 minutes of a 3–1 EFL Cup defeat away at Cambridge United on 26 August 2025.[7]

On 12 May 2026, it was confirmed that Hobden would leave the club following the expiration of his contract.[8]

Chatham Town (first loan)

On 25 August 2023, Hobden joined Isthmian Premier Division side Chatham Town on loan where he played 12 times in all competitions.[9][10] He scored one goal for the club in a 3–1 Kent Senior Cup win at home to Tonbridge Angels on 3 October 2023.[11]

Farnborough (loan)

On 17 October 2025, Hobden joined National League South side Farnborough on loan until the end of the 2025–26 season.[12] Hobden made his debut for Farnborough the next day, playing the full 90 minutes of a 2–0 home defeat in the league to Maidstone United.[13]

On 19 January 2026, Hobden was recalled from his loan by Charlton Athletic.[14]

Chatham Town (second loan)

On 5 February 2026, Hobden re-joined Chatham Town for the remainder of the season.[15]
