Noida International University (NIU) is a private university located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established in 2010 under U.P. editNoida International University was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh through U.P. Legislature Act No. 27 of 2010, vide notification No. 1108/79-vi-1-10-1(Ka) 23-10 Lucknow, dated 12 October 2010.[4] The university subsequently received recognition under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, and was also granted SIRO (Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) status by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.[5]
Campus
editThe university's campus is situated at Plot No. 1, Sector 17-A, Yamuna Expressway, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, within the National Capital Region (NCR). The campus spans approximately 75 acres near the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida.[6][7]
Campus facilities include hostels (with single, double, and triple room options for both male and female students), a library with a collection of over 30,000 books and journals, computer laboratories, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, a sports complex, and Wi-Fi connectivity across the campus.[8]
Administration
editThe university is governed by a structure that includes a Chairman, Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, and Deans of respective schools.
Chairman: Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh serves as the Chairman of Noida International University. He holds a degree in medicine and surgery from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, where he completed his doctorate in 2013. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, he assumed leadership of the university. Under his chairmanship, the institution expanded its academic programmes, schools, and infrastructure across its 75-acre campus in Greater Noida.[9]
Chancellor: Prof. (Dr.) Vikram Singh serves as the Chancellor of Noida International University. He is a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who previously held the position of Director General of Police (DGP), Uttar Pradesh, one of the senior-most positions in the state police administration. Beyond his academic role, Prof. Vikram Singh is widely recognised as a public commentator on issues of law enforcement, policing reform, crime, and public policy. He has been a regular panelist and speaker on national television channels including Aaj Tak, ABP News, Times Now, Republic TV, Zee News, India TV, NDTV, and India Today. He has also delivered a TEDx talk on youth leadership and career development.[10]
Vice-Chancellor: Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj assumed the office of Vice-Chancellor at Noida International University in 2022. She brings over 30 years of combined experience in the education and corporate sectors, having dedicated more than 25 years to teaching and research. Prior to joining NIU, she held academic and administrative roles at several institutions and was associated with professional bodies including IIT Roorkee, AIIMS Rishikesh, and Rostock University, Germany. In 2022, she was conferred the title of "India's Most Impactful Vice Chancellor" at the Edustar Leadership Awards, an annual ceremony organised by Daily Indian Media recognising excellence in higher education leadership across India.[11][12]
