Nippy Sweetie are a British indie band originally formed in the mid-1990s. The band consists of Raina Wilson and David Baird. After an extended hiatus, the band reunited and began releasing recorded material approximately 30 years after it was first written.[1]
Nippy Sweetie were formed while Wilson and Baird were students at Bournemouth University in the mid-1990s. The pair recorded demo material but did not release music commercially before disbanding after graduation.[2] The band reunited in the 2020s following Wilson’s involvement in Leicester’s local music scene. Using original cassette demo recordings alongside new material, the pair reworked earlier songs and recorded new tracks for release.[3]
Nippy Sweetie released their debut EP, deluded, on 26 December 2025. The EP combines newly recorded material with reimagined versions of songs originally written in the 1990s.[4] Multiple tracks by the band have received airplay on BBC Introducing regional radio programmes.[5] A follow-up EP titled home was announced for release in January 2026.[6]
