Nigel Boyle (born 15 March 1984) is a British actor best known for his role as Superintendent Ian Buckells in the critically acclaimed BBC police drama Line of Duty.[1]

Early life

Nigel Boyle was born in 1984 and grew up in Birmingham, England. He has Irish heritage. Boyle discovered his passion for acting during his childhood which he later developed into a professional performance career.[2]

Boyle became known to audiences when he played Superintendent Ian Buckells in Line of Duty which he continued to perform throughout the police procedural show.[3][4]

Boyle appeared in the lead role of Reg Jim on CBBC's High Hoops opposite Robert Webb from peep show, and Isy Suttie who also played in the show.[5][6]

Boyle has also appeared in Three Little Birds (2023), Small Axe (2020), Peaky Blinders (2019), the Netflix historical comedy drama The End of the Fking World (2017–2019), and Sky One medical drama series Temple (2019).[7][8]

Theatre

Boyle has appeared on numerous stage productions, both in London itself and in other locales.[9] Some set production credits in theatre include: Going For Gold (2017), How Love is Spelt (2013), A Dybbuk (2011), Circus Land (2015), Sweet Love Remembered (2018).[10][11][12]

Personal Life

Boyle has been married to Lainy Boyle since August 2012. Together, they have three children.
