His career spans teaching, research guidance, mentoring, administrative leadership, and contributions to statistical theory and applications.
Early Life and Education
Born on May 26, 1965, he earned his MSc in Statistics (first rank) from Calicut University in 1987. He completed M. Phil (1992) and Ph. D (1997) in Statistics from Sardar Patel University, followed by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Biostatistics at Academia Sinica, Taiwan (2003).
Academic Career
K. Muralidharan has served as professor of statistics at MSU Baroda since 2005, has also served as head of the department (2011-2017) and director of the Population Research Centre (2011-2017). He was adjunct faculty at IIT Gandhinagar,Gujarat (2012-2015). Before joining MSU Baroda, he was dean of science faculty at Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University (2002-2003) and was also the head of the department of statistics for the period 1996 to 2004.
Research Contributions
He worked extensively on statistical inference related to lifetime distributions and stochastic point process models. One of the principal contributions of this work is the development of a novel Theory of inliers, which is widely cited and used by researchers. He is an internationally certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt from the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore, and has mentored a number of Six Sigma projects for industries and corporate organizations. Currently he is working on modeling groundwater, climate, and human health risks using machine learning and deep learning methods. He has authored 5 books with Springer (3), Narosa, and PHI. He has over 165 publications, which appeared in reputed journals published by Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, and Wiley.
