ムーの白鯨 Mū no Hakugei (English title: "Moby Dick 5", literally "The White Whale of Mu"), is a 26-episode Japanese TV series produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha in 1980. It combines elements from Melville's "Moby Dick" novel and from the lore of Atlantis and Mu kingdoms, into a modern space and sci-fi setting. The series aired in Japan starting in April 1980 on the Yomiuri TV network, and in Italy in 1983 on Mediaset "Italia 1" and various local TV stations.
Synopsis: 30,000 years ago, two great empires, Mu and Atlantis, existed on Earth, battling for dominance over the planet. The war was terrible and led to a cataclysm that led to the destruction of the empire of Mu, which sank into the ocean along with all its inhabitants. Atlantis, however, also emerged defeated in the war, as the same cataclysm hurled the entire continent into space. Now Atlantis, traveling through space like a huge spaceship, is approaching Earth again and intends to resume its plans for conquest. Earth will be defended by the descendants of Mu.
