Comment: The Biomedical Signal Processing and Control source appears to only cite the page's subject incidentally. Still a lack of secondary coverage. Smallangryplanet (talk) 08:50, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Kindly check neutral point of view and edit the related parts. It reads like a resume/promotion with multiple sub-sections with such tone and unsourced information. HilssaMansen19 12:06, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: 2 of 3 cited sources are authored by the subject, making them non-independent. ~Liance 19:04, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
Moshe Hod (born September 23, 1949) is an Israeli physician specializing in obstetrics and maternal–fetal medicine. He was a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, and directed the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division at the Helen Schneider Hospital for Women, part of the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva. In 2024, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists elected him an Honorary Fellow ad eundem.[1]
Early life and education
editBorn in Russia, Hod immigrated to Israel during childhood. He completed his medical training and residency in obstetrics and gynecology in Israel, then undertook subspecialty training in perinatal medicine at Hammersmith Hospital and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London, Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, and the University of Texas in San Antonio.[2]
Clinical career
editHod joined the staff of Rabin Medical Center in 1979 and went on to direct the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division at the Helen Schneider Hospital for Women. His clinical work focused on high-risk pregnancies, including cases involving cardiac transplant, advanced renal disease, and complex pulmonary conditions.[2]
In November 2015, Hod led a multidisciplinary team of approximately 40 physicians and nurses at the Rabin Medical Center in performing an Ex Utero Intrapartum Treatment (EXIT) procedure on a newborn diagnosed with a neck tumor that blocked the airway. The procedure involved partially delivering the infant while maintaining placental circulation, giving the surgical team an eight-minute window to secure the airway via endoscope before completing delivery. Hod noted the case was among the first few of its kind documented in Israel. The family consented to release of the surgical footage, which drew attention from both medical professionals and the general public internationally.[2][3]
Research and international guidelines
editHod served as an investigator in the multinational Hyperglycemia and Adverse Pregnancy Outcome (HAPO) Study, which followed clinical outcomes across 25,505 pregnancies at 15 international medical centers. The findings were used by the IADPSG Consensus Panel to set new diagnostic thresholds for gestational diabetes, which were later adopted by the World Health Organization.[4]
He chaired the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Working Group on Hyperglycemia in Pregnancy, which published a clinical framework in 2015 in the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics covering the diagnosis and management of gestational diabetes and postpartum follow-up of affected mothers.[5]
Research led by Hod at Rabin Medical Center, presented through the Israel National Institute for Health Policy Research, examined whether simpler blood glucose tests combined with fetal measurements could improve detection of gestational diabetes compared with standard testing methods.[6]
Hod is the lead editor of the Textbook of Diabetes and Pregnancy, published by CRC Press/Taylor and Francis across four editions from 2003 to 2025.[7]
Recognition
editIn 2013, Hod was selected by the Diabetic Pregnancy Study Group to deliver the Jørgen Pedersen Lecture, an annual address given to a distinguished researcher in the field of diabetes and pregnancy.[8]
He received the Life Recognition Award from the Israeli Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2022.[9]
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists elected him Honorary Fellow ad eundem in 2024, citing his leadership of FIGO's Femtech Committee and his tenure as President of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine.[1]

Articles about people must meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion for people. The draft requires multiple published secondary sources that:
- provide significant coverage: discuss the person in detail, not just brief mentions or routine announcements;
- are reliable: from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
- are independent: not connected to the person, such as interviews, press releases, the subject's own website, or sponsored content.
Please add references that meet all three of these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.
