Moise Sarive
editMoise Sarive, professionally known as Sarive, is a Canadian rapper, hip-hop artist, and poet. His work focuses on themes of social inequality, racial identity, poverty, and personal experience.
Early Life
editSarive was born in Bujumbura, Burundi, and is originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He later moved to Canada, where he grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and Quebec City, Quebec. Sarive began writing poetry in 2019, at the age of 13. In 2020, at age 14, he began recording music from a home studio in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Career
editHis music draws from lived experiences and addresses social and systemic issues affecting Black African and African American communities. His lyrical content frequently reflects personal struggles, identity, and observations of inequality. Sarive’s music is characterized by narrative lyricism and socially conscious subject matter. His songs often explore topics such as racial injustice, poverty, and the impact of systemic structures on marginalized communities.
