MiriCanvas is a web-based visual communication platform developed and operated by miridih Co., Ltd. (Korean: 주식회사 미리디), a South Korean software company founded in 2008. The platform enables users to create presentations, posters, social media graphics, videos, and other design content using a library of over 500,000 templates.[1]
As of December 2024, MiriCanvas had over 16 million cumulative subscribers in South Korea and more than 1.2 million overseas subscribers as of September 2025, making it one of the largest design platforms in South Korea.[2]
History
editFounding and early services (2008–2018)
editThe company traces its origins to 2004, when it launched SmileCat, an online photo book and photo printing service.[3] miridih was incorporated on 30 May 2008 in Seoul, South Korea, by CEO Kang Chang-seok, and obtained venture enterprise certification the same year.[4][5] In 2009, the company released SmileCanvas, a proprietary template-based editing solution. In 2012, the company launched BizHows, an online design-and-print commerce service for small business owners.[1] In April 2015, miridih received Consumer Centered Management (CCM) certification from the Korea Fair Trade Commission, becoming the first company in the online photo printing and web printing industry to receive the certification.[5] In 2018, the company renamed itself to miridih Co., Ltd. (MIRIDIH).[4]
Launch and domestic growth (2019–2023)
editMiriCanvas was officially launched in July 2019 as a web-based design editing platform offering templates and graphic elements.[2] The platform grew rapidly, reaching 3.8 million cumulative subscribers by 2021 and 7 million by 2022.
In December 2020, miridih raised KRW 3 billion (approximately US$2.5 million) in Series A funding from G.N. Tech Venture Capital.[4]
In 2023, miridih reported revenue of KRW 60.7 billion and operating profit of KRW 7.7 billion, achieving profitability for the first time.[6]
Global expansion and profitability (2024–present)
editIn July 2024, miridih completed a KRW 20 billion (approximately US$15 million) Series B funding round, with participation from Kiwoom PE, Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), Shinhan Venture Investment, and G.N. Tech Venture Capital. The round valued the company at KRW 280 billion (approximately US$215 million) post-money.[7][8][9]
For the fiscal year 2024, miridih reported revenue of KRW 78 billion (approximately US$60 million) and operating profit of KRW 4.7 billion, marking its second consecutive year of profitability. The company had achieved compound annual revenue growth of 52% over the preceding five years.[1][10][11]
miridih began international expansion in 2024, targeting English-speaking markets including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, as well as Japan. By September 2025, the platform had accumulated over 1.2 million overseas subscribers, representing 500% growth in 21 months.[2][12]
In April 2025, miridih launched MiriCle, a suite of AI-powered design tools including AI Presentation, AI Writing, and AI Image Generation, simultaneously in Korea, the United States, Europe, and Japan.[13]
In August 2025, miridih signed memoranda of understanding with 11 metropolitan and provincial offices of education in South Korea to provide MiriCanvas Pro licenses free of charge to approximately 380,000 teachers nationwide.[14][15]
In December 2024, miridih appointed KB Securities as its lead underwriter, signaling preparations for an initial public offering on the KOSDAQ.[6]

editMiriCanvas is a browser-based design platform that allows users to create visual content without installing software. It offers over 500,000 templates and more than 10 million graphic elements including photos, icons, videos, and audio. User composition consists of students (44.5%), individuals (27.8%), educational institutions (9.2%), companies (7.5%), and small businesses (7.2%).[3] The platform incorporates AI features branded as "MiriCle" (a portmanteau of MiriCanvas and Miracle), including AI-generated presentations, AI image generation and editing, and AI writing assistance.[13] In November 2025, MiriCanvas introduced "Match Your Vibe," an AI-powered feature that uses the proprietary miricleNet engine to analyze uploaded images and recommend brand-aligned design templates.[16][17]
BizHows
editBizHows is an online design-and-print commerce platform launched in 2012, targeting small business owners and the self-employed. It offers design and production services for business cards, banners, stickers, and other printed materials. As of 2024, BizHows had over 2 million cumulative subscribers.[1]
