Mian Sheraz Javaid (born March 1979) is a Pakistani civil engineer, barrister, and international arbitrator. Mian Sheraz Javaid is the founding Chair of the Pakistan Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and is recognized as the first dual-qualified professional in Pakistan to bridge the fields of civil engineering and law. Mian Sheraz Javaid specializes in the resolution and avoidance of complex technical disputes within the infrastructure, energy, and construction sectors, with a particular focus on the legal and contractual frameworks of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).[1][2]
Early life and education
editMian Sheraz Javaid was born in Lahore. Mian Sheraz Javaid began his professional career as a civil engineer, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (UET).[3]
To address the recurring technical-legal impasses in construction, Mian Sheraz Javaid obtained an LLB from the University of the Punjab and later an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King's College London. Mian Sheraz Javaid was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn. Mian Sheraz Javaid is a licensed Professional Engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK).
