Meijerville (/ˈmaɪ.ər.vɪl/) is an American hip hop group formed in Marion, Indiana, in 2025. The group was founded by rapper Lil Shmam and producer Asian Zing. Lil Shmam is from Princeton, New Jersey, while Asian Zing is originally from Taichung, Taiwan. The group’s name is derived from the Meijer supercenter chain, referencing a neighborhood of a similar name where the founding members began collaborating. Other notable members include Andrew 300, $liccNicc, Big Tecca, and Lil pKay. Meijerville is recognized for its energetic style, local following, and eclectic blend of American and international hip hop influences. The group has achieved mild commercial success and gained a devoted local fan base within social circles across the greater Grant County area.
History
editEarly 2025: Formation and Debut Singles
editMeijerville was formed in early 2025 in Marion, Indiana, when longtime friends Lil Shmam and Asian Zing began casually making music together. Both artists grew up in the same community, a close-knit neighborhood colloquially referred to as “Meijerville” — a local nickname derived from the nearby supercenter located behind their neighborhood. What began as a casual idea and shared dream quickly developed into a small collective of emerging rappers.
The group’s origin can be traced to a single late-night studio session, where Shmam and Zing gathered several of their friends — Andrew 300, Lil pKay, and $liccNicc — and recorded a track for fun. That night, they produced what would become their first song, "MEIJERVILLE CYPHER." The track featured each member delivering debut verses over a beat produced by Zing, capturing the group’s energy and collaborative creativity. While the song achieved only limited early success, it marked the beginning of what would become the Meijerville movement.
Following the release of "MEIJERVILLE CYPHER," the founding members continued to work on new material, gradually expanding the group to include additional local rappers. The collective’s lineup evolved throughout early 2025, incorporating new talents and creative approaches. This period saw the release of their second song, "QUAD ANTHEM," created by Lil Doodle, Lil Shmam, Gavmeister, and Lil pKay — marking the recording debut of Doodle and Gavmeister.
Building on the momentum of their early singles, Meijerville released what became their most popular track up to that point, "GOT ANY HOBBIES," featuring $liccNicc, Lil Shmam, and Big Tecca — the latter making his first appearance with the group. Following the release of these three debut singles, the group continued to record and produce music, generating buzz throughout the 765 area through local circles and their growing social media presence. This creative surge ultimately culminated in the group’s first studio album.
April 2025: MEIJERVILLE, VOL I and additional singles.
editOn April 1, 2025, Meijerville released their debut studio album, MEIJERVILLE, VOL I. The project culminated months of hard work for the group and was released to considerable critical acclaim, especially in the local Marion community. The album included 20 tracks, 16 songs, and four interludes and timed in at 1hr 11. In addition to the previous singles that were included in the album, other notable songs from the mixtape include: “CANADA”, “BUMPIN”. “SEVEN MCCHICKENS”. After the release of the album, the next released song was an acoustic remix to “GOT ANY HOBBIES” performed by Andrew 300 entitled “Got any Hobbies? Acoustic Remix,” which featured 300 playing guitar as a backtrack to the original song as well as performing a hook throughout the remix. In late spring, the group created a spontaneous song for a local prom dance, which became a sequel to the Vol. I song “BUMPIN,” which they properly named “BUMPIN 2” featuring Big To, $liccNicc, Lil Sham, and Andrew 300. Both of the singles were released to large critical acclaim, especially the musical prowess demonstrated by 300 in the acoustic remix. The last standalone single of the summer was perhaps the most conceptually unique. As many of the members volunteered at a local kids' summer camp, they recorded a song in a cabin abroad. “BUNK HOUSE FREESTYLE” featuring Lil Shmam, $liccNicc, Asian Zing, Big Tecca, HadaRe, Jorge, and Special Zedward, the latter 3 were making their debut verse. Due to the song's low production quality, the only Meijerville song not produced by Asian Zing, and many subpar rapping performances, the song flopped and was received very negatively by critics. At the beginning of the summer, the group created a quartet encompassing $liccNicc, Big Tecca, Lil Shmam, and Gavmeister called “SUMMER ANTHEM”. This song marked the beginning of the group's second studio album, which was released later that summer. This was followed by the singles “LOVE SUM” and “RUN IT SUMMER (360)”, both collaborations by Lil Shmam and $liccNicc. These two songs served as a preview for the group's second studio album, which was released in early June.
SUMMER 2025: RUN IT, SEVEN DAYS OUT, and FACILITY PACK
editMeijerville’s second studio album, RUN IT, was released on June 6, 2025. The project was conceptualized as a collaborative effort between Lil Shmam and $liccNicc, who can be seen on every track, and also features many other members of the group. Notable songs from the mixtape include: “SHAKE IT”, “BEN’S HOUSE”, “COLD HARD STREETS”, and “HOBBIES REMIX”. “HOBBIES REMIX” is the group's second remix of the Vol. I sang, “GOT ANY HOBBIES?” and began with an Andrew 300 cover of a Kanye West sample of the Backstreet Boys. The album was received with mixed reviews, but many standout songs were derived from “RUN IT”. The next release came in the form of an EP entitled “SEVEN DAYS OUT”. The EP is based on a trip that many members of the group took with a local youth group over the summer. All three tracks became hits and are among Meijerville's most popular and successful tracks. The EP also features the rapping debuts of Freaky Mic, Surgeon Dre, and Juko. Meijerville released another EP at the end of the summer, “FACILITY PACK”. The six-track EP includes members who were employed together at a local college campus. Many references to their employment were made in the EP.
End of 2025: MIXTAPE: THE ALBUM and singles
editThe group's third studio album, “MIXTAPE: THE ALBUM”, was created with the idea of parodying or creating covers of popularly released rap/hip-hop songs. It was originally scheduled for release on October 10th, but copyright issues delayed the release date to the beginning of November. The album features the debut verse of YNG Ace. Amongst the delays in releasing “MTA”, the group created a song for Halloween entitled “TRICK OR TREAT”, which was released Oct. 31. “MIXTAPE: THE ALBUM” was finally released on November 30, 2025. Highlights from the project included the tracks: “MEIJERBACK”, “IN MARION”, “23 MIN”, and “BEAUTIFUL MEIJER’. Andrew 300 received praise from critics for his incredible hooks, which are found on most of the tracks. After the release of this project, Andrew 300 announced his formal departure from the group, citing “creative differences”. Following the album, the group released 3 Singles: “DAY OFF”, “CLENCHIN!”, and “SPIRIT AIRLINES” as well as a holiday project EP entitled: “A VERY MEIJERIVLLE CHRISTMAS” to round out the calendar year.
2026 and Future
editAfter releasing many albums at the end of 2025, the group plans to slow down their releases moving into the new year, following the deluxe version of MTA, entitled “MTA+”. Future plans for the group have not been announced at this time

Musical style and themes
editMeijerville is primarily known for high-energy group tracks that emphasize collaborative performances and rotating verses among multiple members. Many of the group’s songs are structured in a cypher-style format, allowing each artist to contribute individual verses within a single track. This approach has become a defining characteristic of the group’s sound and reflects its origins as a loose collective rather than a traditional band with fixed roles.
Lyrically, Meijerville’s music often adopts a humorous and informal tone, frequently incorporating unconventional or deliberately irreverent lines. Rather than focusing on tightly structured narratives, the group’s lyrics commonly reference everyday experiences, inside jokes, and situational observations. These elements contribute to a casual aesthetic that aligns with the group’s emphasis on spontaneity and group chemistry. A recurring motif throughout Meijerville’s catalog is the frequent use of local references, particularly mentions of the Meijer retail chain and locations associated with the group’s upbringing in and around Marion, Indiana. These references function as a form of regional identity and are often used as shorthand for shared experiences among members and listeners familiar with the area.
Production for Meijerville is largely handled by Asian Zing, who serves as the group’s primary producer. His production style typically features minimalist arrangements, repetitive melodic loops, and bass-forward drum patterns designed to support multiple vocalists on a single track. The beats often prioritize rhythm and pacing over complex instrumentation, creating space for extended verses and group interaction. This production approach reinforces the collective nature of the group and allows for flexibility in lineup and performance style.
While Asian Zing produces the majority of the group’s material, other members have occasionally contributed to songwriting concepts, hooks, and creative direction. The group’s recordings are often developed through informal studio sessions, with songs evolving organically through collaboration rather than rigid planning. As a result, Meijerville’s releases frequently vary in tone and structure, ranging from more polished tracks to experimental or loosely arranged recordings. This variability has become a notable aspect of the group’s output and reflects its ongoing development as an emerging hip hop collective.
