Maung Sein Win (Puti Kone) (Burmese: မောင်စိန်ဝင်း (ပုတီးကုန်း); born 10 October 1950) is a Burmese poet, novelist and writer. He received the Southeast Asian Writers Award (S.E.A. Write Award) in 2013.[1]

Early life and education

Maung Sein Win entered the literary field in 1965 when one of his poems was published in the August issue of Yoke Shin Aung Lan magazine. While studying at the Rangoon Institute of Technology, he published three poetry collections and served as an editor of student publications.

After graduating from the Rangoon Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering, he worked as an engineer until March 1989 before becoming a full-time writer.

Literary career

He served as poetry editor of Shwe Thway magazine and publisher of Arindama magazine. He has also served on judging panels for literary competitions and participated in literary talks and public events.[2]

In interviews with Burmese media, he has discussed literature, reading culture, and contemporary social issues.[3]
