Mark Anthony Obumneme Osuchukwu popularly known as Anyafulugo is an Igbo rapper, writer and mystic. Since the early 2010s, Anyafulugo has steadily built a reputation as an incisive thinker and wordsmith, first as a writer, a community builder, social and cultural activist, and most recently as a music executive and artiste. As a writer he gained widespread popularity from 2014 to 2022 writing for the biggest blogs and magazines across Africa. As a musician, he created a new genre known as Afro-Agwu.[1]

Anyafulugo often describes himself as a rebel, and the way he approaches arts, and the kind of people he finds solace with are rebellious people, as a writer and as a musician. The writer, Gloria Duruem Nwangwa once wrote of him as, "A young man who questions everything and is willing to champion causes that work towards re-exposing the Igbo culture."[2]

Early Life

Anyafulugo was born on 7th April 1995 in Nsukka, and grew up in Onitsha. He grew up in a religious household. He learnt from a very early age to adapt to the hustle and bustle of the city, and his mother, a teacher, brought home a new novel every week, which helped shape him as a child good at expressing himself in the written word. He was also exposed to Igbo folklore and traditional chants which later in life would lead him to invent the new genre of music fitting to his style of expression.

Music Career

Anyafulugo came into the music scene in November 2023, and in less than a year, he dropped an album titled Psychotic or Iconic which was like a statement project. This was followed by the EP 30 which marked his 30th birthday. And another EP in 2025 titled Powerful Civilian.[3] [4]
