Maria Wirries is an American actress, singer, and composer. She is best known for her work on Broadway, notably as Star in the 2026 musical adaptation of The Lost Boys (film) directed by Michael Arden.
Early life and education
editWirries was born in Haiti and raised in Sarasota, Florida. Before pursuing a career in musical theatre, she was a competitive figure skater.[1] She attended Pennsylvania State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre.
Career

editWirries made her Broadway debut as an understudy in Dear Evan Hansen, later understudying the roles of Zoe Murphy and Alana Beck on the show's first national tour.[2]
In 2025, she appeared in the Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends.[3] On April 26, 2026,[4] she originated the role of Star in the Broadway cast of The Lost Boys (musical) at the Palace Theatre.[5]
Her Off-Broadway credits include the 2022 revival of Kinky Boots and Penelope, or How the Odyssey Was Really Written.[6]
Composer / Lyricist
editA graduate of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, Wirries is an active composer and lyricist.[7] Her original works include:
- In-Gauged: Commissioned for the Penn State Class of 2023.
- Bloody Mary: A solo horror-musical project which premiered at 54 Below.
- Iobairt: Developed at the Johnny Mercer Writer’s Grove at Goodspeed Musicals.
