Marc Pacifico is a British consultant plastic surgeon. He served as president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) from 2022 to 2024.[1][2]
Education and training
editPacifico trained in plastic surgery in the United Kingdom and in Melbourne, Australia.[3] He was awarded the Gold Medal in the FRCS(Plast) examination, the United Kingdom's consultant-level plastic surgery examination.[4] He is registered on the Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery with the General Medical Council.[4]
Career
editPacifico served as a consultant plastic surgeon at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for eight years.[4] He is the founder and a director of Purity Bridge, a private aesthetic clinic in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, which operates as the trading name of Tunbridge Wells Plastic Surgery Ltd and is regulated by the Care Quality Commission.[4][5] His clinical practice focuses on aesthetic surgery of the face and breast, and body contouring.[4]
He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers in the international plastic surgery literature and serves as an international editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.[4][6]
BAAPS presidency
editPacifico was elected president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons in October 2022, succeeding Mary O'Brien, having previously served two years as the organisation's vice president.[1] As vice president he established the BAAPS mentorship programme for training junior plastic surgeons in aesthetic surgery.[1][7]
During his term he campaigned for greater regulation of the cosmetic surgery industry, including a 2022 BAAPS petition calling for legislation to prevent non-surgeons from performing aesthetic surgery.[8] He has commented in the national press on trends in cosmetic procedures, including coverage of non-surgical treatments among under-30s.[9]
His presidency ended in 2024, when he was succeeded by Nora Nugent.[2]
