MCSR Ranked is a Minecraft mod which puts two players in a head-to-head speedrunning race to defeat the Ender Dragon as fast as possible.[1] There are two modes, Ranked and Casual. In Ranked, players gain and lose Elo rating and are ranked on a leaderboard accordingly. In Casual mode, there is no ranking system
Background
editIn December 2025, American streamer and YouTuber, Ludwig Ahgren would stream himself playing MCSR Ranked for the first time. On that stream, he would receive the Coal I rank, which is the worst rank in the game, leading people to refer to Ahgren as a lolcow.[2] Ahgren's streams attempting to reach the Gold rank were immensely popular,[3] boosting the mod's concurrent player count to 1,000 players for the first time[4] and increasing it's Modrinth downloads by over 200,000.

Midoffs
editThe Midoffs are a series of MCSR Ranked tournaments hosted by British streamer Tubbo. Each player in the event is inexperienced at Minecraft speedrunning, with some never having done a speedrun of the game before. Each player is drafted by a group of eight coaches, who spend the weeks leading up to the tournament teaching the players how to play.[5]
A special in-person edition of the Midoffs were hosted at TwitchCon Rotterdam 2026 in collaboration with Minecraft as the official Minecraft Live pre-show.[6][7]
