The KitKat heist was a large-scale cargo theft in Europe in which approximately 12 metric tonnes of Kit Kat chocolate bars were stolen while in transit from Italy to Poland in March 2026. The incident involved 413,793 individual bars and attracted media attention due to its unusual nature and the subsequent response by Nestlé.[1]
Background
editIn early 2026, Nestlé was preparing distribution of a limited-edition product line associated with Formula One, which featured chocolate bars shaped like racing cars.[2] The shipment involved in the heist was part of this promotional release and was being transported across Europe for retail distribution before Easter season.[3][4]
