Just Meeting Rooms is a Canadian technology company and online marketplace for booking meeting rooms, boardrooms, and other professional collaboration spaces. The company operates a digital marketplace that allows users to reserve meeting spaces on a short-term basis. It was originally launched under the name Just Boardrooms in 2021.[1]

History

edit

Just Meeting Rooms (originally named Just Boardrooms) was launched in Toronto in 2021 as a marketplace for booking professional meeting spaces. The company was incubated by the marketing and technology consultancy theturnlab. According to company statements at launch, the platform was initially conceived to address collaboration challenges associated with remote and hybrid work arrangements during the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]

In December 2021, technology publication BetaKit reported that Just Boardrooms had raised $3 million CAD from a group of angel investors concurrent with the launch of its marketplace platform. At the time, the service focused primarily on Toronto-area meeting spaces and stated plans to expand into additional North American markets. BetaKit also reported that the company had originally been designed to support gig workers before broadening its focus to business professionals more generally.[3]

In March 2023, Just Boardrooms announced that Canadian entrepreneur Jim Treliving and venture capitalist John Ruffolo had joined the company as strategic investors.[4] The announcement was accompanied by plans to scale the platform’s meeting-space marketplace model internationally.

Between 2024 and 2025, the company adopted the name Just Meeting Rooms. During this period, it expanded into additional Canadian, United States and European markets.[5]

Business model

edit

Just Meeting Rooms operates a two-sided marketplace that connects organizations that have unused meeting space with individuals and businesses seeking short-term meeting facilities.

Hosts on the platform include co-working operators, private offices, hotels, restaurants, and other commercial venues. Users can search and reserve spaces based on criteria such as location, room capacity, amenities, availability, and price.

The company generates revenue through service fees and commissions associated with bookings made through its platform.

Market context

edit

Just Meeting Rooms operates within the flexible workspace and proptech sectors, both of which experienced increased attention during and after the COVID-19 pandemic as hybrid and remote work models became more common.

Media coverage of the company has frequently referenced broader changes in co-working and workspace demand following the decline or restructuring of companies such as WeWork and Breather.

Environmental and operational claims

edit

Company materials have described the platform as supporting more efficient use of under utilized office space and aligning with principles associated with the sharing economy. Independent assessments of the company’s environmental impact or sustainability claims have not been publicly published.
