John Ellis Water is a brand of distilled water and water-processing systems developed in the United States. The brand is associated with water distillation devices and bottled water products marketed under the John Ellis name.
History
editThe John Ellis Water brand technology was described in United States Patent US 6409888 B1, which details a water distillation method intended to alter the hydrogen bond angle of water.[1] The brand name "John Ellis Water" is a registered trademark held by the company behind the brand, John Ellis LLC.[2] The company is currently listed by the Better Business Bureau as a business within the water purification equipment category.[3]
Products
editThe brand's primary product is a specialized water distillation machine designed to change the molecular properties of water.
Coverage and Regulatory
editPublic coverage of the concept of "light water" and its purported properties appeared as early as 1992 in The Washington Post, which reported on individuals seeking water they believed possessed healing effects.[4] While the article discussed similar water products, it is frequently cited in discussions regarding the John Ellis brand.
In April 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a warning letter to John Ellis Water regarding claims that its products could prevent or treat various diseases.[5] The FTC cited a lack of competent and reliable scientific evidence to support such medical claims.[5]
