Jill Gostin is an American applied mathematician and research scientist who serves as the 2026 President‑Elect of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).[1][2]

Gostin is Principal Research Scientist Emeritus at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), where she worked for several decades in sensor systems, software, and systems engineering.[3] Gostin has held numerous volunteer leadership roles within IEEE. She served on the IEEE Board of Directors as the 2023 IEEE Vice President, Member and Geographic Activities and as Region 3 Director for the southeastern United States from 2020 to 2021. She previously chaired the IEEE Atlanta Section and the IEEE Computer Society's Atlanta Chapter. Her service also includes positions on the Boards of Governors of the IEEE Computer Society and the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society, as well as a term as finance vice president for the IEEE Sensor Council. She chaired the 2025 IEEE Ad Hoc Committee on the Conduct Review Committee’s Delegated Responsibilities and served as the IEEE MOVE USA Communications Chair.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

Gostin earned a master's degree in applied mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology. At GTRI, she held leadership roles in both the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory and the Information and Communications Laboratory, including serving as Deputy Director of the latter. Her work included software testing, experiment design, target detection, and program management on defense-related research programs. She retired from GTRI in 2025.[11]
