editPlayer career
editPacific Dolphins Era
editHe joined the Pacific Dolphins as a catcher in 1994 and switched to a pitcher the following year. However, he failed to perform well and enlisted in the military after his first season with the Hyundai Unicorns, completing his military service. [1]
After completing his active military service, he returned in 2000 and recorded 12 wins as a starting pitcher in 2001. In 2006, he recorded a 3.39 ERA and 14 wins and 4 losses, ranking first in winning percentage in 2006. From 1997 to 2010, he played alongside his namesake, Jeon Jun-ho.
SK Wyverns Era
editHe was released by the Heroes on November 19, 2009. At this time, he transferred to the SK Wyverns, who needed a veteran right-handed pitcher due to the military service of Yoon Gil-hyun and Chae Byung-yong. However, he was unable to establish himself in the league due to the competition and was eventually released on November 26, 2011.
Transformation into a Commentator
editAfter retirement, he worked as a commentator for MBC Sports+ in 2012.
Death
editHe had been battling liver cirrhosis and lung cancer for a long time. As his condition worsened, he became increasingly unwell, making recovery difficult. Despite intensive medical treatment and the care of his family, he never regained his health, and he passed away peacefully on New Year's Day, 2026. The sad news, delivered at the start of the new year, left his family, friends, and many who remembered him with deep sorrow and regret.
