I, Chihuahua is an upcoming animated adventure comedy film directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez from a script he co-wrote with Doug Langdale and Candie Kelty Langdale from a story by Gutierrez and Gabriel Iglesias (who also produces alongside Tim Yoon and stars in the film). The film follows a chihuahua named Chacho, who becomes a luchador.
The film was being produced for Netflix until in April 2024, the film was cancelled due to creative differences at Netflix Animation. However, the film was suddenly revived by Snafu Pictures.
Premise
editA young chihuahua named Chacho who becomes "Luchacho" when putting on a Lucha Libre mask after discovering his home is in danger. Luchacho enters a fight tournament against other animal fighters around the world to save his home.

editI, Chihuahua was first announced in March 2022 as a film from Netflix Animation produced for Netflix with Jorge R. Gutierrez set to direct a script he co-wrote with Doug Langdale and Candie Kelty Langdale. Gabriel Iglesias and Tim Yoon were producing the film for Iglesias to star in.[1] However in April 2024, the film was cancelled due to creative differences at Netflix Animation.[2] In February 2026, the film was revived, with Snafu Pictures boarding the project.[3] In May 2026, Diego Luna, Stephanie Beatriz, and Ron Perlman joined the cast as Juan, Xochi, and Tony Tijuana / Rock Powers.[4]
