Howard Weiss is an American photojournalist and freelance photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. He is the founder of the photography platform NYC in Focus.
Early life and education
editWeiss was born in Brooklyn and attended John Dewey High School. He earned an associate degree in political science from New York School of Career and Applied Studies (NYSCAS), a division of Touro College, in 2003.
Career
editWeiss works for the United States Postal Service, managing operations across 48 zip codes in the Bronx, Queens, and Long Island. He is also a freelance photojournalist and contributor to BK Reader, covering events including the TCS New York City Marathon and local cultural celebrations.
Following the September 11 attacks, Weiss photographed rescue efforts at Ground Zero.
In 2013, Weiss founded NYC in Focus, a photography platform based in New York City. His photographs have appeared in MSN, Yahoo Autos, and Insider Sport.
In 2026, Weiss was selected to exhibit his photography in the Art is Life employee artist showcase, organized by WorkWell NYC at the NYC Mayor's Office of Labor Relations, held at One Art Space in New York City.
