Hebei Orient Sundar Group or Orient Sundar (Aorun Shunda or Chinese: 东方尚德) is a Sino-German joint venture specializing in ultra-low energy building systems, headquartered in Hebei Province, China.[1] Founded in 1988, the company has received national recognition[2][3] and has been involved in projects related to passive house technologies, energy-efficient doors and windows, and green building materials.[4][5][6] Orient Sundar participated in the construction of the Olympic Village for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing [7], as well as the Gaobeidian Railway City, which according to sources is the largest passive house project in the world.[8][9]

Major Projects

Orient Sundar contributed to the construction of several venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics, including the Olympic Village and Reception Center in Zhangjiakou, the Yanqing Winter Olympic Village, the Mountain News Center, and the Taiwu Four Seasons Cultural Tourism Resort.[10] A representative of the company was invited to participate in the Olympic torch relay as the representative of the green building industry.[11][12]

The company participated in the development of the Gaobeidian Railway City, which has been described by sources as one of the largest passive house complexes in the world.[13][14] The site hosted the 2024 China (Gaobeidian) International Green and Healthy Building Expo, attended by global experts including IPCC Vice Chair dr Diana Ürge-Vorsatz and leaders from the German Passive House Institute.[15]
