History

edit

Fremont Academy of Engineering and Design was established on July 1, 1980 and is believed to be named after John C. Fremont. It was originally only a middle school up until the early-to middle 2010s. In recent years, the school has introduced a series of new curriculums and extracurriculars. The most notable ones are Career Technical Education (CTE) courses and an E-Sports program. Their E-Sports program originally started with just Rocket League. It has since expanded to Valorant and most recently Marvel Rivals. However, since it is an engineering school, one of their main types of curriculum is Project Lead the Way (PLTW). There is approximately 1 course per grade level, ensuring that students get their education in engineering[3]. There was also once a program called Femineers, but has not appeared in recent years. When it comes to Career Technical Education courses there are 2 notable courses. Those 2 are Maunfacturing and Graphic Design. Fremont Academy has been represented in various opportunities districtwide. Some include Math Field Day, the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council[4], and in various E-Sports competitions.

Extracurriculars

edit

Fremont Academy offers multiple kinds of extracurriculars and school-related programs. Some include the California Scholarship Federation (California Junior Scholarship Federation for Middle Schoolers), Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Graphics Club, and Photography Club. Most clubs are introduced and mainly facilitated through teachers. Although, there are few that are fully student-ran.
