Faithful to Nature

edit

Faithful to Nature (often abbreviated as FtN) is a South African e-commerce and retail company, specialising in ethical and sustainable products.[1] The company is headquartered in Cape Town and sells products in categories including food, health, beauty, and home goods.[1][2]

History

edit

Faithful to Nature was founded in 2006 by Robyn Smith. Smith has stated that the company was established to help South Africans make purchasing decisions based on ethical considerations and ingredient transparency.[3] From its early operations, the company introduced a strict ingredient listing policy.[4][5]

In 2015, Faithful to Nature received an investment of over R10 million from Silvertree Capital to support business growth and expand its online presence.[6]

In 2018, the company launched an in-house product range under the Faithful to Nature brand, covering food, personal care, and home care products, packaged using environmentally friendly materials.[7][8]

In 2020, Faithful to Nature opened its first retail store at its warehouse in Muizenberg, Cape Town.[5]

In 2021, Faithful to Nature opened its flagship store at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.[2][9]

In 2022, the company partnered with South African retail chain Pick n Pay to make Faithful to Nature products available in selected Pick n Pay stores.[10]

Sustainability Initiatives

edit

In 2022, Faithful to Nature became the first retail company in South Africa to receive B Corp certification, awarded by B Lab for meeting standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.[11][12]

In the same year, Faithful to Nature introduced carbon-neutral delivery to its customers and was reported as the first major retailer in South Africa to do so.[13]
