The Fair Play Menarini International Award is an annual award established in 1997 with the aim of promoting the values of ethics, loyalty and respect in sport.[1] Organized by the Fair Play Menarini Foundation, the award celebrates athletes, sports executives and public figures who have distinguished themselves through exemplary conduct both on and off the field of play.[2]
Over the years, the award has involved leading figures from international sport across a range of disciplines, contributing to the promotion of fair play.[1][3] Over time, the event has been held in several Tuscan cities, including Florence, Fiesole and Castiglion Fiorentino, while the presentation press conference is traditionally held at the headquarters of the Italian National Olympic Committee in Rome.[2][4][5][6] Since 2024, the award has been organized in collaboration with Sky TG24.[7]
One of the award's main aims is to promote sport as an educational and social tool.[2] The initiative includes the Fair Play Menarini "Giovani" Award and the special Fiamme Gialle "Study and Sport" Award,[8] both aimed at younger generations, as well as the talk show I campioni si raccontano ("The Champions Tell Their Stories").[9][10][11]
