Fadly Amran (born 9 February 1988) title Datuak Paduko Malano is a businessman and politician from West Sumatra, Indonesia, who currently serves as Mayor of Padang period 2025–2030.[1]

He was officially inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on February 20, 2025, alongside Deputy Mayor Maigus Nasir, after winning the 2024 Padang mayoral election. This inauguration made him the youngest mayor of Padang in the city's contemporary history.

Early life

Fadly Amran was born in Padang City, West Sumatra, on February 9, 1988. He grew up in a family environment that placed great importance on the values ​​of education, religion, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.[2][3]

Career

After graduating from college, in 2009, Fadly started an internet cafe[4] business. He joined the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) of Padang City as general secretary for the 2009–2012 period. In 2014, he founded and became Director of PT Bangun Harapan Indonesia which operates in several sports and fitness centers and mini markets. The following year, he founded and also became Director of PT Arfa Bangun Perkasa.[5] Fadly was also appointed Secretary of the Baiturrahmah University Foundation and the Siti Rahmah Islamic Hospital Foundation.[4]

Political career

In the 2018 Padang Panjang mayoral election, Fadly Amran ran for mayor with bureaucrat Asrul. The Fadly-Asrul pair was supported by the Golkar Party (Golkar) and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).[6] In this election, Fadly could not vote because he was not a resident of Padang Panjang City, but had a Resident Identity Card of Padang City.[7] Followed by four pairs of candidates, this pair managed to defeat the incumbent mayoral candidate Hendri Arnis–Eko Furqani with a margin of 853 votes.[8] The Fadly-Asrul pair was inaugurated by Governor of West Sumatra Irwan Prayitno on October 9, 2018, in the Hall of West Sumatra Governor's Office.[9]
