History

edit

FREOR was founded on October 31, 2000. Realizing that Lithuanian retailers lacked local suppliers of reliable commercial refrigeration equipment, FREOR was founded to fill this gap. The company produced its first refrigeration unit, a multideck cabinet that later became known as the JUPITER model.

The company's first customer was the Lithuanian supermarket chain Norfa, which remains a partner today. During these years, FREOR invested in manufacturing technologies and automation, laying the foundation for future expansion.

By 2008, FREOR had developed a full product range including multideck cabinets, semi verticals, serve-over and self-service counters, and freezers. The company also entered the international market by exhibiting at the retail trade fair EuroShop[4] for the first time in 2008 and has been participating triennially ever since, a major step toward global recognition.

In 2012, FREOR introduced the Hydroloop cooling system[5], a glycol-cooled refrigeration solution designed to improve energy efficiency and simplify installation. A significant milestone came in 2015, when FREOR was among the first companies in the world to begin manufacturing refrigeration equipment that operates on the natural refrigerant propane (R290). The company shifted its focus toward environmentally sustainable cooling technologies and later expanded its use of natural refrigerants such as CO₂ (R744).

The same year, FREOR obtained major international certifications, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 50001 (Energy Management).

In 2019, the company completed a modern A++ energy-efficient production plant in Vilnius[6], strengthening its manufacturing capacity and supporting continued growth. Since 2021, FREOR has continued investing in research, testing, and sustainable manufacturing. The company installed an ISO 23953-compliant testing laboratory [7], introduced its Continuous Cooling technology [8], and launched two new lines of refrigeration equipment, known as the NDL line and the ENERGY[9] models. Today, FREOR employs more than 480[10] people, works with over 35 international sales partners, and supplies refrigeration equipment to customers in more than 55 countries. The company produces approximately 20,000 units annually in its 36,000 sq. m. FREOR manufacturing city and is recognized for its emphasis on energy efficiency, natural refrigerants, and environmentally responsible manufacturing.
