Comment: This will need ideally three examples under the WP:GOLDENRULE, where routine electoral coverage won't work. This is because the politician is unelected and not covered by WP:NPOL. So we would really need evidence of in depth coverage before their nomination for election. ChrysGalley (talk) 20:25, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
Eric Lombardi is a Canadian housing policy advocate and civic organizer. He is the founder of More Neighbours Toronto, a non-partisan volunteer organization focused on addressing the housing affordability crisis in the Greater Toronto Area. In June 2026, Lombardi formally entered the 2026 Ontario Liberal Party leadership election, becoming the fifth candidate in the race to succeed Bonnie Crombie.[1][2][3]
Early life
editLombardi studied engineering at the University of Waterloo before building a career in technology and finance.[1]
Advocacy Work
editMore Neighbours Toronto
editIn June 2021, Lombardi founded and served as president of More Neighbours Toronto, a volunteer-run non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for increased housing supply in Toronto and across Ontario[4]. He stepped down in January 2026 in connection with his exploratory campaign for the Ontario Liberal leadership[5]
Political Career
editOntario Liberal housing panel
editIn July 2024, Lombardi was named to the Ontario Liberal Party's housing panel[6], led by then-leader Bonnie Crombie. The panel held public consultations to help shape the party's housing platform ahead of the 2025 provincial election.
Ontario Liberal leadership campaign (2026)
editIn January, 2026, Lombardi announced that he was exploring a run for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party, following the resignation of leader Bonnie Crombie. He made the announcement in an essay published in The Hub, in which he argued that Ontario's political culture had become focused on managing scarcity rather than pursuing growth.[7]
On June 9, 2026, Lombardi formally entered the race, becoming the fifth declared candidate.
