Emily Rebecca Dean is a British broadcaster, journalist, author and podcaster. She is co-host of the podcast Frank off the Radio alongside comedian Frank Skinner, and presenter of the podcast Walking the Dog. She is author of the memoir Everybody Died, So I Got a Dog (2019),[1][2] published by HarperCollins.[3] The book describes her experiences of bereavement and adopting her dog.
Early life and education
editDean trained as a child actor at the Anna Scher Theatre School in London and appeared in television productions including the BBC serial The Day of the Triffids (1981).[1] She later studied English literature at university and began a career in journalism.[1]
Journalism career
editDean worked in magazine journalism, including as deputy editor of InStyle UK and editor-at-large of the Evening Standard's ES Magazine.[4] She has written features and interviews for publications including The Sunday Times, Evening Standard, and Grazia.[1][5]
Broadcasting
editDean is co-host of Frank off the Radio, the successor podcast to The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio.[6][7] She has also appeared on BBC Radio 4 programmes including Loose Ends[8] and Woman’s Hour,[9] in addition to television programmes such as This Morning and Lorraine.[1]
Walking the Dog
editDean presents the podcast Walking the Dog, in which she interviews guests whilst walking with her dog. The podcast launched in 2017 and has featured guests from entertainment, broadcasting, and sport.[10]
