Divia Thani is the Global Editorial Director of Condé Nast Traveller.[1] A writer and editor who was born and raised in Mumbai, India and educated in the United States, she is currently based in London.[2]

Career

Divia was part of the launch team for Time Out magazine in Mumbai, eventually overseeing multiple sections as Lifestyle Editor.[3] In 2007, Divia joined the launch team of Vogue India, later becoming Features Editor. During her time at Vogue, she interviewed individuals ranging from author Jhumpa Lahiri, to actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.[4] In 2010, Divia was selected to launch Condé Nast Traveller in India. She was the youngest editor-in-chief of Condé Nast Traveller at the time.[5]

In 2020, Divia Thani moved to London to lead Condé Nast Traveller globally as Global Editorial Director. She oversees eight editions of the brand – US, UK, Italy, Spain, India, China, the Middle East and Germany, which launched in 2024.[6]

In 2023, Thani was awarded Travel Editor of the Year as well as the inaugural DEI Leadership Award from the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME).[7] Earlier that year, she was part of a group of South Asians invited to ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ in New York, in celebration of the festival of Diwali.[8]

Personal life

Thani graduated summa cum laude and received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.[9] She received awards such as The Robert C Laing Award for Creative Writing, a Brackenridge Fellowship from University Honors College, the Alpha Lambda Delta Senior Award and the inaugural Sheth International Young Alumni Achievement Award from her alma mater.[10] She has also served on the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee.
