Comment: Scopes has been the subject of lots of routine local sports reporting, but otherwise there is little amounting to SIGCOV. The Clark interview is a primary source (see WP:IV). I was able to find an additional BBC source relating to Aveley reaching the playoffs in 2024, but I can't find much focused on Scopes himself (rather than the teams he's managed) so I don't think Scopes meets the WP:GNG notability criteria.

Danny Scopes (born September 1974) is an English football manager and former non-league footballer. He managed Concord Rangers to the 2020 FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium and later led Aveley to successive promotions, taking the club to the National League South for the first time in its history. He is currently manager of Billericay Town F.C. in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
The Non-League Paper has highlighted his managerial philosophy and long‑term influence within English non‑league football.[1]
Playing career
editScopes played as a midfielder in the Essex non-league pyramid throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s. He spent the majority of his senior career at Great Wakering Rovers, making approximately 350 appearances over a ten-year period.[2]
He subsequently joined Tilbury for a season and a half, winning promotion during his time there, before signing for Concord Rangers in November 2005.[2][1]
At Concord, Scopes was appointed club captain for the 2006–07 season. Following Grace's departure at the end of that season, he was approached by chairman Antony Smith and persuaded to take on the role of player-manager ahead of 2007–08, a role he had not actively sought.[1]

Managerial career
editConcord Rangers — first spell (2007–2012)
editScopes was appointed player-manager of Concord Rangers in 2007. Shortly after his appointment, Danny Cowley joined the club as a coach, with Nicky Cowley signing as a player, and the pair subsequently formed a joint-management partnership.[1][3]
In a later feature interview, The Non-League Paper described Scopes as a formative figure in Concord Rangers’ rise through the Essex and Isthmian leagues, noting his role in attracting Danny and Nicky Cowley to the club.[1]
Concord won the Essex Senior Football League title in 2007–08 and were promoted to the Isthmian League Division One North. In 2009–10, the club secured a second promotion by winning the Division One North play-off final, reaching the Isthmian League Premier Division.[1] Scopes stepped down from the joint-management role in 2012, with Cowley subsequently taking sole charge.[4]
Concord Rangers — second spell (2019–2021)
editScopes returned to Concord Rangers as manager in May 2019.[5] In the 2019–20 FA Trophy, Concord reached the final at Wembley Stadium. The match was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was played behind closed doors on 3 May 2021, with an official attendance of zero.[6][7] Concord were defeated 1–0 by Harrogate Town, with the winning goal scored by captain Josh Falkingham.[6] Reflecting on the occasion, Scopes told BBC Radio Essex that, as the disappointment faded, his overriding emotion was pride in how his players represented the club.[8] Scopes resigned later that month following the departure of long-serving chairman Antony Smith.[9]
Aveley (2021–2025)
editIn October 2021, Scopes was appointed manager of Aveley.[10] In his first full season, the club won the Isthmian League North Division title and were promoted to the Isthmian League Premier Division. In the 2022–23 season, Aveley secured a second successive promotion by winning the Premier Division play-offs, reaching the National League South for the first time in the club's history. The club also won the Isthmian League Cup that season.[11]
In their National League South debut season, Aveley finished seventh and qualified for the play-offs.[12] At the end of the 2023–24 campaign, Scopes was named National League South Manager of the Season.[13] Scopes left Aveley at the end of the 2024–25 season.[14]
Billericay Town (2025–)

On 8 September 2025, Scopes was appointed manager of Billericay Town, with the club positioned in the lower reaches of the Isthmian League Premier Division.[15][16] Following his appointment, Billericay recorded a prolonged unbeaten run in league competition and improved their league standing, progressing to the Premier Division play-off final later that season.
In cup competition, Scopes led the club to victory in the Essex Senior Cup final on 24 March 2026, defeating Great Wakering Rovers 2–1 at Colchester United’s JobServe Community Stadium.[17][18]
