Daniel Deutch (born 1983) is a Full Professor in the Blavatnik School of Computer Science at Tel Aviv University and a researcher specializing in the field of databases.[1]
Biography
editDeutch was born in Tel Aviv. He completed his undergraduate studies in computer science at Tel Aviv University at 2002.[2]
In 2010, he earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.[2] His doctoral dissertation, titled "Querying Web-Based Applications Under Models of Uncertainty", was supervised by Professor Tova Milo. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and at Inria in France, after which he returned to Israel to join the faculty of Tel Aviv University.[3]
Deutch has published approximately 100 research papers in the field of database management.[4] His research paper won the Best Paper Award at the VLDB (Very Large Data Bases) conference in 2017.[5][6] He has been the recipient of numerous research grants, including the European Research Council (ERC) Personal Research Grant, the US–Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF) grant, and multiple grants from the Israel Science Foundation (ISF).[3].
Deutch has supervised numerous research students; two of his former students currently serve as senior lecturers at Israeli universities: Dr. Amir Gilad at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Dr. Yuval Moskovitch at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.[6].
Prof. Deutch is a member of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE) [2].
