CHORD Real Estate was founded in 2016 by Steve and Ashley Luther with partner Van Hohe. The brokerage established offices on Nashville’s Music Row.

In March 2020, following tornadoes in Middle Tennessee, the company’s Music Row office was used as a temporary location for fundraising merchandise supporting local relief efforts, as reported by The Tennessean.[1]

In April 2023, Mansion Global quoted managing broker Ashley Luther in a feature on Nashville’s Oak Hill neighborhood, discussing inventory levels and pricing trends in the luxury housing market.[2][failed verification]

In October 2025, The Washington Post quoted Luther in a national business article examining the rise in U.S. home delistings during a slowing housing market, citing her perspective on homeowner behavior in the Nashville area.[3]

In December 2025, The Washington Post again quoted Luther in a feature analyzing the effects of tariffs, immigration policy, and interest-rate changes on U.S. housing supply and builder sentiment.[4]

In 2025, City Lifestyle published a feature titled “Local Roots, Global Reach” in its Music City Lifestyle and Belle Meade Lifestyle editions, profiling the firm’s founders and their perspectives on operating an independent brokerage in a consolidating real estate industry.[5]

Community involvement

The firm has supported fundraising initiatives for the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research’s Tennessee chapter, including participation in local events.[7]

Co-founder Van Hohe founded The Needs List Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on providing resources for students in need. He received a Person of the Year award from Leadership Sumner in 2012.[8]
