Bloomerang is an American software company that develops cloud-based fundraising, donor CRM, and volunteer management software for nonprofit organizations. It is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.[1]
History
editBloomerang was founded in 2012 by Jay Love and Ross Hendrickson in Indianapolis, with Love as the first chief executive officer.[2] Its early product development was based on the research of Adrian Sargeant and focused on donor retention methodologies.
In 2015, Bloomerang expanded its operations and moved to a 21,000-square-foot headquarters at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Lawrence, Indiana.[3] Hendrickson succeeded Love as chief executive officer in 2017.[4]
In 2020, Bloomerang received a growth capital investment from JMI Equity.[5] Following this financing, Bloomerang acquired a series of companies to expand its operations. In January 2021, Bloomerang acquired Kindful, a Nashville-based donor management software.[6][7] It was followed by the acquisition of the volunteer management platform InitLive in 2022 and the fundraising technology firm Qgiv in December 2023.[1][8]
In January 2023, Dennis Fois was appointed chief executive officer.[9] A year later, in 2024, Bloomerang received an investment from private equity firm Warburg Pincus, which joined JMI Equity as an investor.[10]
Platform
editThe Bloomerang Giving Platform is a cloud-based fundraising software platform for nonprofit organizations in the United States and Canada. Its core software includes a constituent relationship management (CRM) database that tracks donor interactions and giving history, using engagement scores and retention metrics.[11]
In 2021, Bloomerang introduced Bloomerang Payments, an integrated payment processing feature based on Stripe technology.[12] In 2023, Bloomerang launched Bloomerang Volunteer, an app for volunteer recruitment and scheduling derived from the InitLive acquisition. The platform also includes fundraising tools such as event management, auctions, peer-to-peer fundraising, and text-to-give features.[11]
