Arnico Kumar Panday is a prominent Nepali atmospheric scientist and politician. He served as the Member of National Planning Commission of Nepal. He currently serves as a member of the Central Committee and the Head of the Heritage & Environment Department of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Panday is widely recognized for his research on air pollution and his efforts in environmental advocacy within Nepal.

Dr. Panday was a Member of the National Planning Commission. Prior to entering politics, Panday served as the Regional Programme Manager of the Atmosphere Programme at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). He has also held research and teaching positions at Princeton University and the University of Virginia.

Politics

In 2022, Panday transitioned into active politics by joining the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by Rabi Lamichhane. He was appointed as a member of the party's Central Committee. His political platform focuses on:

  • Evidence-based policy making.
  • Urban planning and pollution control in Kathmandu.
  • Climate change adaptation and "Green Growth" for Nepal.
