Argha Roy (born 30 September 2008) is a Bangladeshi student, debater, and participant in several national academic competitions. He is known for his achievements in inter-cantonment debate competitions and for participating in national-level Olympiads in mathematics, physics, and chemistry in Bangladesh.

Early life and family

Argha Roy was born on 30 September 2008 in Lalmonirhat, Bangladesh. He is the son of Bidhu Bhushan Roy, a government officer at the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB), and Parbati Roy, an assistant professor of economics at a college in Bangladesh.

He well known as Mr. Roy.

Education

Roy began his early education at Border Guard Public School and College, Lalmonirhat, where he studied from 2011 to 2015. He later enrolled at Cantonment Public School and College, Lalmonirhat, where he studied from 2016 to 2024.

He completed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in 2024 from Cantonment Public School and College, Lalmonirhat.

Following his SSC, Roy enrolled at Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur, where he has been continuing his higher secondary education since 2024.

Debate career

Inter Cantonment Debate Champion in 2025

Roy is an active participant in debate competitions in Bangladesh. He has taken part in numerous debating tournaments and is a member of the National Debate Federation Bangladesh (NDF).

He became champion of the Inter Cantonment Debate Competition (Rangpur Area) for three consecutive years in 2023, 2024, and 2025. He also received the Best Speaker award in 2023 and 2025.

At the central level of the Inter Cantonment Debate Competition, Roy reached the semi-final stage in 2023 and 2025, and was a quarter-finalist in 2025.

He currently serves as the College Debate Leader at Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur.

Academic Olympiads and competitions

Roy has participated in several national academic Olympiads and educational competitions in Bangladesh.

In the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad, he became a regional champion and participated in the national rounds in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025.^[1]

He has also participated in the Bangladesh Physics Olympiad, qualifying for the national rounds in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Roy has also competed in the Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad.

He was a national participant in the Bangabandhu Creative Talent Search in 2024.

He also participated in National Education Week in 2023 and 2024, and in the National Children's Award Competition in 2022, 2023, and 2024.^[2]

Other activities

In addition to debating and academic competitions, Roy is involved in several creative and extracurricular activities. His interests include singing, drawing, and public speaking.
