Aníbal Colón Rosado (born 1946) is a Puerto Rican writer, educator, academic administrator, editor, and publisher.[1] He has published numerous books of essays, poetry, narrative, and philosophical works. Colón Rosado was briefly the interim president of Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico from 2001 to 2002. He is also known by the pen name, Aníbal Colón de La Vega.[2]
Early life
editAníbal Colón Rosado was born June 17, 1946 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico.[citation needed]
He attended Interdiocesan Seminary of San Ildefonso. He earned a Bachelor of Theology degree from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy; a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico; and graduate studies at the University of Puerto Rico (studies in philosophy).[citation needed] He also earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Southeastern Louisiana University in Louisiana.[citation needed]
Career
editColón Rosado’s professional life spans literature, education, and social communication. He served in leadership and teaching positions across academic and religious institutions. From 2001 until 2002, he was the interim president of Bayamón Central University (Universidad Central de Bayamon) in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.[3] He directed a Catholic weekly newspaper for 15 years.[which?][citation needed] He also founded Editorial Poemar, a publishing house.[when?][citation needed]
Colón Rosado is the author of dozens of books published over several decades, including poetry, essays, prose, and philosophical texts. His writing explores philosophical questions, cultural identity, and existential inquiry. Some notable titles include El credo del coquí (1979), Filosofía de la técnica (1992), El libro de los epitafios (1997), Historia de una pasión (2007), and La Mirada de Beatriz (2015).[1] A compilation of his newspaper and magazine writings was published in Letras en el tiempo (2011).[citation needed]
In 1996, he received a Doctorate Honoris Causa in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce, Puerto Rico.[citation needed]
Personal life
editColón Rosado lives in Puerto Rico alongside his wife, Nélida. He is a father of three and grandfather to seven.
