Alex Forbes is an American meteorologist, who currently works at the FOX owned-and-operated station, WAGA-TV, in Atlanta, Georgia.[1] He is a certified meteorologist and appears on weekend morning newscasts, while also making appearances at different points through the week.
Career
editForbes graduated from Mississippi State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree.[2] While in school, he conducted research, part of a capstone project, that revealed the public generally doesn't understand the naming convention behind the Storm Prediction Center's convective weather outlooks.[3]
Shortly after graduation, Forbes joined WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia as the weekend evening meteorologist.[4] In 2022, he was named the weekday morning meteorologist for the station.[5]
In 2024, Forbes joined WAGA-TV and the FOX 5 Storm Team.[6] He has covered numerous impactful events in northern Georgia, including Hurricane Helene, winter storms, and tornado outbreaks.[7][8][9]
Forbes holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society.[10]
Awards and recognition
editIn 2026, Forbes received the Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Chapter for Craft Achievement, Weather - Talent.[11] He has also been nominated for two other Emmy Awards in his career.
Personal life
editForbes grew up in Forsyth County, Georgia and attended South Forsyth High School.[12]
