The African Youth Congress (AYC) is a pan-African youth organization that seeks to promote youth participation in governance, socio-economic development, leadership, and continental integration across Africa. The organization focuses on empowering young people through advocacy, policy engagement, research, capacity building, and civic education.

AYC operates through national chapters, thematic departments, and affiliated programs, with activities targeting youth leadership development, political participation, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.

History

edit

The African Youth Congress was established to provide a structured platform for African youth to collectively engage in continental and national development processes. Its formation was influenced by long-standing calls for greater youth inclusion in decision-making, in line with the aspirations of the African Union and other regional frameworks that recognize youth as key drivers of Africa’s future.

Since its establishment, AYC has expanded its organizational structures and activities, engaging youth leaders, civil society actors, and public institutions across different African countries.
