Abraham Philip Kanu (born 3 July 2005) is an Sierra Leonean professional footballer who plays as a defender for EFL League One club Reading.
Career

editOn 13 September 2022, Reading announced that Kanu had signed his first professional club with the club.[3]
On 13 August 2024, Kanu made his professional debut for Reading in a 2–2 EFL Cup game with Colchester United.[4] Kanu started the game and played 34 minutes before being replaced by Tyler Bindon after picking up a booking and narrowly avoiding a second. Kanu made his league debut for Reading on 23 November 2024, coming on as a 68th minute substitute for Amadou Mbengue in a 2-1 away victory over Peterborough United.[5]
On 2 July 2025, Reading announced that Kanu had signed a new one-year contract with the club.[6]
On 24 July 2025, Kanu joined Forest Green Rovers on a season-long loan deal.[7][8]
International
editOn 19 March 2025, Reading announced that Kanu received his first call up to represent Sierra Leone, in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau and Egypt.[9] However, on 22 March 2025, Kanu was handed his debut for the Sierra Leone U20's in their friendly match against Morocco.[10]
