Đuka Čaić (Čakovec, 5 May 1956[1]) is a Croatian musician. He is widely known to the public as the performer of the song "Hrvatine," one of the first patriotic anthems recorded at the beginning of the Croatian War of Independence.[2][3]

Biography

Already in childhood he learned singing and playing instruments.[4] He plays twelve different instruments and is also skilled in drawing.[3] While studying at the Music Academy in Zagreb, he passed the audition for the Komedija Theatre, where he worked for 20 years.[5] His first musical performance took place at the Kajkavian Songs Festival in 1982.[6] He also made notable appearances at other domestic and international festivals.[7][8]

Čaić served in the Croatian Army with the rank of captain during the war.[3] He has a career spanning over 45 years and continues to record new songs and plan concerts.[5] In 2017, he became a grandfather.[9]
