Đường lên đỉnh Olympia (lit. 'Road to Mount Olympia') is a Vietnamese television quiz show for high school students, created by Vietnam Television[1] in collaboration with LG Electronics and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training. The program is currently aired on 1:00 PM every Sunday on VTV3.
The show premiered on VTV3 on March 28, 1999, and is the longest-running game show in VTV history. The show has continually amassed popularity among high-school students.[1] As of 2026, it is undergoing its 26th season, co-hosted by Trần Khánh Vy and Phạm Ngọc Huy. The show is currently sponsored by Truong Hai Group.
A season of Đường lên đỉnh Olympia consists of 53 episodes, 36 of which being weekly competitions, 12 monthlies, four quarterlies, and a grand final, in the last of which four winners of the quarterlies play for a grand prize of 50.000 USD and a fully-funded scholarship Swinburne University of Technology in Australia.
Game rules
editIn each episode of Đường lên đỉnh Olympia, four contestants from four different Vietnamese high schools (five in rare cases) compete in four rounds, each titled Khởi động (lit. 'Warm-up'), Vượt chướng ngại vật (lit. 'Overcoming the obstacle'), Tăng tốc (lit. 'Acceleration'), and Về đích (lit. 'Reaching the goal'). After the final round, Về đích, the player with the highest score is deemed the winner of the episode.
Below are the rules for the show's 26th season.
Khởi động
editGameplay begins in this round, where all contestants participate in an individual phase and a competitive phase.
- In the individual phase, each player, starting from the one in the leftmost starting position, is given six questions covering six different subjects, appearing in no particular order: Natural Sciences, Social Studies, Arts and Sports, English, General Knowledge, and Regional Studies (concerning arts, cultures and celebrations belonging in the city/province where the participating player is currently studying in.) Answering a question correctly earns the student ten points; they are not penalized for giving an incorrect answer or not giving an answer, and the correct answer is revealed subsequently. Players must answer each question at a maximum of five seconds after the question has been read in full; failing to do so is synonymous with giving no response.
- The competitive phase occurs after all contestants have gone through the individual phase. In this phase, twelve questions of varying subjects are given to all contestants. As the hosts read the content of each question, any contestant may ring in; the first one to do so may answer the question. Giving a correct response earns the student ten points; however, an incorrect response or no response given after five seconds deducts five points from the student's score. In case no student rings in five seconds after the hosts have finished reading the question content, the question is immediately forfeit, its answer subsequently revealed.
