This page lists Wikipedia articles about individuals who have been awarded honorary membership in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). (Not all recipients are the subject of an article.)
Honorary membership recognizes "a lifetime of service ... that contributes significantly to the attainment of the goals of the engineering profession."[1] The award was first given in 1880, the year ASME was founded. The frequency and number of awards has varied; but with few exceptions, between one and five honorary members have been elected each year.[1] (More than five honorary members were elected only in 1882, 1920, 1947, 1954, 1955, and 1980.[1])
