Christian communities in Syria refer to localities in Syria with a majority Christian population or a sizable Christian minority. Christians comprise some 10% of the Syrian population. They consist of the Greek Orthodox (majority), Armenian Orthodox (second largest), Armenian Catholic, Melkite Greek Catholic, Assyrian Catholic (third largest), Syriac Orthodox, Syriac Catholic and Maronite denominations. Ethnically, they are Arab, Arameans, Assyrian or Armenian.
