Badister is a genus of ground beetle in the family Carabidae native to North Africa, the Near East, and the Holarctic, including Europe.[1][2][3]

In Ireland, Badister species are mostly confined to the south and west but no further north than midland counties, although the species number matches British and exceeds the Scandinavian totals.[4]
