Habitat

Aylostera heliosa is native to Bolivia. It grows in deserts and dry shrublands,[2] across a range of around 900km2. It occurs at elevations from 2,400 to 3,100 m.[1]

Conservation

The population is stable as of 2010.[1]

Subspecies

There are two recognised subspecies:

  • Aylostera heliosa subsp. cajasensis[3]
  • Aylostera heliosa subsp. condorensis[4]

Human use

The species is cultivated ornamentally in specialized collections.[1]
